There has been a lot of changes in the lighting industry as newer, cleaner and sustainable forms are continually discovered. Older technologies have proved to be less effective and this is why there has been a rising need for organic led lighting all over the world. This invention uses a semiconductor extracted from nature to transmit electrons to positive and negative electrodes. Electricity is usually needed for this process to be possible.

The practice was founded by electricians who were passionate about science hence the need to use organic compounds as transmission channels. Others use various types of solvent that form an organic layer that enables movement of electrons. A solvent in this case can be a mixture of water and any substance.

The television and computer screen manufacturing sector has adopted led technologies for a very long time. This industry has enabled the evolution of big sized screens to small and narrow sized ones which have simultaneously dominated the markets. Mobile phone companies have continuously embedded this practice in the manufacturing of smart phones too, because of its efficiency and cheap costs.

The advantage is that, gadgets which use these technologies, are more affordable since materials used in their manufacturing are readily available. Their electricity consumption is also lower when compared to other sophisticated technologies. The main disadvantage is that the organic semiconductor used is not long lasting for it tend to gradually wear out.
